Understanding The Difference Of Home Safes

Uses For Small Home Safes

There are several different types of small home safes that can be used for various needs.  Some people use small home safes for hiding jewelry, cash, handguns, personal identification materials, etc.  The type of safe that you need will depend on those factors as well as your ability or inability to thoroughly hide your safe.  If your safe weighs ten pounds and is not well hidden, it’s pretty much worthless to any burglar.  You need to consider whether or not you will be able to adequately hide your safe to determine what type of safe you will need.   If you are hiding things from prying eyes, such as children, you may be able to get away with a ten pound safe that isn’t hidden, however, you’ll need something much heavier if hiding your safe isn’t an option and you want to keep burglars from taking your belongings.

Fingerprint Wall Safe

A fingerprint wall safe is an excellent choice to have hidden behind a painting or picture if you won’t be accessing it too often.  A fingerprint safe is an obvious choice for those who aren’t the best at remembering combinations as your fingerprint is the key to your fingerprint wall safe.  This type of safe can run anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, depending on size, brand and functionality.

Digital Wall SafeDigital Home Safe

A digital home safe is an excellent choice for people who can afford them.  They are easy to program and easy to access for homeowners.  Using a digital home safe has several advantages, one being ease of reprogramming.  It is recommended that you change your combination on your digital safe periodically.  These types of safes are typically used for items that you may need some semi-frequent access to.  Using a digital safe will save you time in accessing your items over using a standard dial combination safe.

Fireproof Home Safes

Fireproof home safes are a must.  When you think about it, if you treasure your items enough to place them in a safe in the first place, you should treasure them enough to protect them in the event of a fire.  A fireproof home safe is definitely a must, when you really think about it.  Most manufacturers of fireproof home safes will insure their fireproof home safes in the event of a fire should your personal belongings become damaged within them.

Handgun Safe

A handgun safe is a must these days.  Long gone are the days where you can keep your firearms outside of a safe and have them protected from falling into the wrong hands.  While some people will keep a handgun readily available for home protection, most responsible gun owners are keeping the majority of their handguns in a handgun safe.

Biometric Gun Safe

A biometric gun safe is an excellent choice for gun owners, albeit a semi-costly one, as it gives the gun owner the protection of having his/her guns locked up and still readily available should they need one for home protection.  Using a biometric gun safe seems to be a sound solution to keeping your guns out of the wrong hands, while still keeping them within reach of your own in a pinch.
